So, if you read about my positive COVID test results, you know I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. That being said, yesterday, I took a break from writing and reorganized my house, I’m not fully out of the woods yet, the symptoms are lingering, still I’m healthy enough to be active and productive.
The conundrum I’m encountering, the real crux of the matter, would be the fact that I don’t know what to write about. I’ve done enough lists and recaps in recent posts, I’ve just ran out of that type of material. I’m sure I could throw some obscure category together, but, to tell you the truth, I really don’t want to try. Yet, I’m not really sure what I could write about and make it travel related. Especially seeing how I haven’t left my house in the past four days…is it really Wednesday already?
Instead, and I don’t have photos to accompany this particular blog, I’ll tell you where you shouldn’t go…at least during summer.
I spent a summer internship in Florida. Yes, Florida during the summer. And Florida, especially the Tampa and Orlando areas, is an excellent place during the Winter and Spring months, but if you try during June, July and August, you might be wholly disappointed.
I think, if someone hasn’t experienced it, but was left to guess, one would say that it would be way too hot. The heat really didn’t bother me, and that’s saying a lot…I’m a guy who spent his late teen years and early twenties near Fairbanks Alaska. From that point in my life on, heat and humidity haven’t mixed with me.
What really sucks about Florida in the Summer time, at least in the central part of the state, are the severe thunderstorms. And they occur like clockwork every late afternoon into early evening. I’m not lying when I say they’re severe, they’re torrential. I can’t imagine Floridians paying too much attention to the weather. Basically, it’s going to be sunny and hot ’til around four, then all hell is going to break loose. I might be embellishing a tad, they may not occur every day, but I’d say 70 to 80 percent of Floridian summer days are plagued with storms.
I know, that was a real horrible bit. Basically, avoiding Florida in the summer is a no brainer. But eh, it’s a good heads up for someone who has landed a steal on airfare and hotel near Disney World.
Safe Travels!

Feel better soon, Chris. I know what you mean about summer in Florida. Not a good time to go.
