So, in this particular post, I’m going to recount a rather blissful Saturday. I don’t know, is blissful a pretentious adjective? It seems absolutely appropriate to me.

Starting off, I tied up plenty of loose ends, as far as the week’s chores were concerned. That included a little extra cleaning, washing an enormous load of laundry and a ton of blog reading. It really felt good, even if I was accomplishing these goals later than I had planned, to check those tasks off my to do list.

Later on, Heidi arrived. I was a little addled- not quite ready to leave- when she walked through the door. I got my stuff together, and we headed towards Appleton.

Due to the undeniable fact that Heidi is a great woman, I was able to decide where we would hang out. So, first, to be nice, I chose Heidi’s top option: a store known as five below- because shopping is her favorite activity.

Then we headed towards the city’s downtown, where two craft breweries awaited us. The first was packed, yet it was exactly what I needed, speaking from an emotional perspective.

I also included it in yesterday’s blog. The post didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped. With a packed bar, despite the casual, laid back atmosphere, trying to take pictures seemed like attempting to organize napkins during a windstorm. Don’t get me wrong, Wisconsinites are super curteous, so, when you point your phone at something, they won’t walk in front of you.

Then again, I felt rushed. Basically, I don’t want to be that annoying guy taking pictures of everything. I guess what I’m saying, to put it bluntly; I just didn’t want to be in the way or, worse yet, leave somebody questioning why I just took a photo of them. Besides that, I was hanging out with Heidi, so she drew my attention also.

That being said, I did fit the highlights, at least what I felt were main points of the spot, in the blog. I don’t really think I left out any important elements.

We finished our beers and headed to the second brewery. This one had a little more space, yet, again, as this place will be tomorrow’s blog, I just wasn’t feeling a strong photographic inspiration. I ended up with some decent pics, and they definitely illustrate the place well enough, yet I was hoping for a little better. I guess, being that I’m green when it comes to lighting, camera functions and composition principles, I just have to study up. And of course, keep looking for the best possible shot.

Anyways, when we returned to my place, Heidi and I just relaxed. Oh, and I made an important phone call, one that I had hoped would have went better, to my troubled family member. It ended with me wondering if I said the wrong thing, but they’re going through rough times, so I won’t read too much into it.

Finally, finishing off the night exactly like last Saturday, we watched another competitive hockey game. If you have read some of my posts, you’re probably figuring that I love to watch hockey. I absolutely do! It’s fast paced and, most always, fairly intense.

Well, that was my Saturday. As you can tell, there were a few snags during the course of the day, but certainly nothing catastrophic occurred. As nothing absolutely major had happened, and what did go wrong was resolved later, I’d chalk it up as a relaxing win.

Safe Travels!

  1. It sounds like a very nice day. It does feel good to get stuff done and then have some fun. My husband loves hockey, too. Of course, he is a fan of the St. Louis Blues. I watched during the playoffs the year we won the Stanley Cup. That’s about it. ha ha. Hockey is kind of intense for me; I do like the slower pace of baseball. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Betty. I appreciate baseball also; there’s so much history tied to the sport. As for hockey, Heidi actually likes the blues too. I think it has something to do with their jerseys.
