Today, I’m talking about luxuries, and I’m writing about that frivolous item I can’t do without. And my choice, being that just about everybody I know has it, might not come across as an indulgence.

Here it is: hot water. Think about it, it’s actually one of those things everyone takes for granted. Yet, when the water heater is on the fritz, many head to their gym’s showers. Nobody wants ice enveloping their bodies. That’s hypothermia walking in through the front door.

Not only that, washing dishes in frigid water, once the warmth is gone, is a fairly tortuous endeavor. Plus, when you scrub pots and pans, cold water doesn’t work as well as its hotter counterpart.

Did I mention shaving? Try a cold razor blade on the skin…yeah, brrr. Some do it; I’d rather not. I think it’s easier to cut oneself with arctic liquid, but I probably just made that up…for the sake of good content.

After my short list, I know what you’re thinking, “That’s only a few small tasks. You can’t live without that?” To that, I’ll simply nod my head. Yeah, the things I’ve listed, well, I do them…Every…Freaking…Day! So, after some time, I’d get pretty sick of going without hot water.

I’d probably manage without it. But when faced with cutting costs, shutting down my water heater is not an option.
