What would you change about modern society?
If I were to change anything in this world, I guess, well…hmmm…based on past decisions, I’m going to contradict myself. As we know, this world isn’t perfect: crime abounds, the powerful feed off the powerless…I could go on, but I’ll leave that to civic leaders. In this post, I’ll tell you what I loathe about today’s world.
I’ll begin with an easy question….
Is homicide justifiable?
No? I agree. Yet, many nations, for the sake of freedom, money or power, wage wars on other nations. The mission? To cripple its foe into submission.
What I’m saying, and I do mean this, war should not be socially condoned. I get it, if you’re under siege, you have no choice. Yes, sometimes, you have to fight back. And yes, the plight for freedom is a noble cause.
Yet, if we change our thinking, and make war an unacceptable course of action, we’ll have a much different world. There will always be tensions between nations, but peaceful resolutions can be achieved.
Peace…that’s what I want.
Years ago, while I was a child, I had watched clips of John Lennon. In those antiquated videos, with every American aware of the horrific Vietnam War, the man seemed to be asking for the impossible…a war free world.
Being a kid who learned much from the Bible, I had thought wars were as innate to man’s existence as food was. But now, I see it differently. In this day and age, with so much technology, and, because of that, a world full of information, we might we be able to stymie disputes. Livelihoods, families and lives may be spared. It could also preserve our way of life.
I have many more thoughts on human nature and warfare, but, unfortunately, my lunch break only lasts so long.
So, today, and I know this isn’t the greatest post in the world, anyways, I’m asking for peace. I know, the hippie movement is long gone, but the desire to attain a unified world is within me. If we’re one, all can gain from all.
Have an Excellent Day!
P.S. I’d also like to mention, because I feel I must, that I proudly served in the USAF. I felt it my duty to defend our nation, no shame in that.
