When this summer began, my mind was teeming with weekend travel ideas. You see, in the Upper Midwest, natural beauty abounds. Yet, ughh…life, monetary woes and things like that got in the way. However, if I were to salvage these sultry months, I do have two places I’d like to visit. In this brief post, I’ll detail my travel wishes.

First off, being the closest, at least when comparing my two choices, anyways, I’d like to visit Mirror Lake State Park. Mirror Lake is an odd body of water, being that some of it resembles a river. And along those bends, sandstone cliffs encase still waters. So, I’d love to strap the kayak atop my car and paddle that small lake.

My second choice is even better. Munising, Michigan has an excellent mountain bike park. If you’re wondering, which you probably are, Munising is set right on the shores of Lake Superior, and around this small town lie some imposing hills. One of those giant chunks of earth has a trail riding its ridge.

The climbs are challenging, the scenery is awesome and, at times, the ride is pulse pounding. So, being that I’m not getting any younger, I’d love to test my riding abilities…before my prowess is diminished.

I guess, because I’m sticking with what’s practical, I do have more adventurous plans. However, I’ll settle for these two choices. I know, should I visit these places, I’d have the time of my life.
