Write about a random act of kindness you’ve done for someone.

Once, a long time ago, while enduring dire circumstances, I was handed a book on philosophy. It contradicted much of what I had believed. Yet, as the time passed, that book, and its statements, lingered in the back of my mind. Today, I’ll post on how I contradict that very long novel.

First off, before I go too far, I should elaborate on the author’s sentiments. It was the ultimate defense of capitalism, and, consequently, it was a very aggressive attack on socialism.

I hear what you’re thinking, ‘What the heck does that have to do with random acts of kindness?’

I’ll put it to you this way; Simply stated, selfless acts, at least as viewed by the author, weren’t selfless acts. They were vile attempts to destroy those who brought forth production in the world…nuts, right?

At first, I really thought so, but then I saw some of her scenarios at work. Not everything she stated was garbage.

Though, here’s where the lines get blurred. Sometimes, when helping someone, that selfless act induces an emotional high. And because of that, there may be no hidden agenda behind the good deed…absolutely no ulterior motive.

That being said, when asked to mention a random act of kindness, as today’s prompt does, I have a few that come to mind. For instance, I hold the door open for just about anyone. And if I see a woman who’s insecure about her appearance, I’ll compliment her choice of clothing, particularly her shirt. I’m not thinking of dating said woman, I just know what an ego boost can do.

Heck, even some women who don’t need it may get a compliment.

Anyways, that’s not what I’m going to write about. Here’s what I like to offer, and the recipient may be anyone. I like donating to thrift shops, especially if the proceeds go towards charities.

I mean, it’s a double whammy. First off, I’m donating quality items, and I mean that. If they’re not in excellent shape, I’m not going to offer them. Anyways, some of these clothes, actually, most everything I donate, I’ve only worn a handful of times. So, they’re practically brand new.

When someone purchases one of my shirts, it’s practically an incidental bond, and I’ll never even meet that dude. It’s a realization that someone, probably a really decent soul, shares similar tastes.

I know, that might seem a little far fetched…just donate something you like, and then surmise where that item may have went. Of course, your imagination won’t reflect reality, but really, if you’re realistic, your guess won’t be too far off.

Secondly, after that explanation, I’ll list another great point. The money used to buy these items goes towards charities. So, not only are you sharing fashionable threads, you’re also helping out those who are less fortunate. There, that explanation was shorter…I can hear you sigh, ‘Thank God.’

Anyways, that’s my favorite act of kindness, and I perform this deed often. So, now that I have random acts of duties, that’s a creative way to say I have to work, anyways, I think I’ve given a satisfactory answer.

Enjoy Your Night!
