What’s the most money you’ve ever spent on a meal? Was it worth it?

Food. It’s a necessity. Dare I say it’s a medium? And it’s also a luxury…or it can be luxurious. With that said, sometimes, for that one meal, that plate full of tasty morsels, one might blow an exorbitant amount of cash. Today, as prompted by WordPress, I’ll tell you about the most expensive meal I’ve ever devoured.

When I was growing up, I frustrated my parents. Much of my annoying behavior, and I don’t think I totally appreciated my parent’s efforts, stemmed from my dreams of an opulent lifestyle. I wanted flashy, high priced things, and, well, the reality was, we were hardworking dairy farmers…and my father, in order to provide a decent living, worked other jobs as well.

So, needless to say, fine dining, a meal reserved for very special occasions, was a steak and baked potato at Ponderosa. I thought the place was okay, but I longed for something more…and I think I embarrassed my parents.

Well, one year, to satisfy that life long desire, actually, when I look back, New Year’s Eve of 2018 satiated a few life long cravings, anyways, back to my point, I reserved a table for two; my companion was my girlfriend. My chosen spot was a high priced steakhouse in Chicago.

It was everything I dreamed of: dim lighting, candles set atop a white table cloth plus an ultra professional wait staff

Long story short…we ordered tenderloins; I blew $160 dollars. In my humble world, well, my world at that time, $160 was what I spent on a month’s worth of groceries. Don’t get me wrong, the tenderloin was fantastic, the best I’ve ever chomped on, but…it’s only a meal…and I eat three a day.

Yeah, I loved that experience, but now, as I’ve fulfilled that dream, $160 meals are nothing I fancy. Don’t get me wrong, in order to impress a date, I’ll ante up some dough, but, man $160 dollars…come to think of it, I’m a pretty decent cook, and I’m sure I’ll find a recipe that’ll wow her.

Have an Excellent Day!!
