Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.
Life lessons. Sometimes accepting reality seems unbearable, and our teachers may seem like tyrannical overlords intent on corruption. But, when we peel away the truth’s outer shell, we may realize, in agonizing fashion, that, yes, our teachers were right. Today, I’ll share a lesson I should have learned in my youth. Instead, I’ve realized it much later in life.
Not everybody who is nice is sincere. Similarly, many people will undercut you for personal gain. Those truths, in my young adulthood, for some damn reason, I had failed to realize.
When I thought of life, at least in my younger years, I thought of that song, ‘I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke’. Fact is, when some people offer you a drink, dude, they may have tainted it. Now, mind you, most people aren’t like that. But, for a leg up, and for ridiculous reasons, certain individuals will try to derail you. And yes, they’ll cheat you any way they can.
I also learned that, and this is just as important, I shouldn’t engage in their game. Instead, one must hold a wrongdoer accountable. Sometimes it’s difficult, and, yes, it takes guts. However, the alternative leads to ruin.
If I don’t hold them accountable, who is the person guilty of the greatest evil? Well, frankly, I am. That’s because I’m allowing something wholly deceptive to persist…and I’m well aware of it.
So, I know, that was a bit of a rant. But, yeah, to everyone who reads this, stay true to yourself. More importantly, don’t let a cheater push you off course.
Have an Excellent Day!!
