What could you try for the first time?

Being that I’m bored, I’ll tell you what I, an old man, would like to try. I realize, as you read this, my sentiments may cause you to roll your eyes with disgust. You’ll probably think, and, I admit, your thoughts would be justified, anyways, you’re going to say, “Chris, stop trying to be the super awesome old guy!” With that lead in, one that hopefully drew a little interest, I’ll tell you what I’d love to attempt for the very first time.

Once again, while tackling this fun topic, I feel I owe you a slight apology. Alas, for the umpteenth time, I’m writing about my favorite pastime. I have a few hobbies, like, for instance, writing. Yet, what I really look forward to, and I do it a few times a week, is hitting those forested paths. Yes, I’m writing about mountain biking…again.

I know what you’re thinking, and I’m ready to explain myself. I can practically hear you chide, “ well, if you write about it all the time, how can it be a first?” So, I’ll delineate my thoughts.

With mountain biking, there are a ton of elements to tackle. Switchbacks, hill climbs, rollers…they’re all things a rider must learn. And one of the first things I wanted to try, but, because I’m a bit hesitant, I haven’t, are true jumps.

Don’t get me wrong, while riding, my tires have certainly left the riding surface. Yet, a substantial jump is something I’m very apprehensive to attempt. Yes, I’d love to say I did it…and yes, I realize I’m fifty years old. That being said, this old dog would love to learn a few new tricks.

Who am I impressing? Absolutely no one, I just want the challenge. Like I’ve mentioned in previous posts, the more I ride, the more I learn. When I realize new feats, the greater the high at the end of a ride.

So, yes, maybe next year, I’ll jump a few boulders. It’d be a ton of fun!

Have an Excellent Day!!
