What is your favorite form of physical exercise?
I ran a few miles today. Yet, even if it incited a runner’s high, I prefer to exercise differently. If you’ve read my writing, that is, if you’ve viewed a few posts, you’ll know that I like to, and I’ve done it countless times, anyways, I’ve written about my favorite activity before. But, eh, in this short post, I’ll mention it again.
Mountain Biking is a fun way to blow off some steam. Usually, I’ll hit the trails three times a week, and I bike around ten miles. When considering distance and difficulty, I’d say that 7.5 miles of my ride is on single track.
On the app I use, the trail is listed as an easy intermediate trail. Although, when I read the criteria for trail ratings, I feel the balsam should be rated as a difficult intermediate trail. So, being that there are tough portions on this circuit, the ride is challenging and rewarding. When I’m finished, I think, ‘Gosh Darn, there is no way this should be legal…it’s simply too much fun.’
Yet, as I say that, due to time and inclement weather, the last two weeks I haven’t hit the trails, and it’s killing me. This is when the forest’s leaves are there most vibrant.
Come November, when the trees are bare, it’ll be tough to deal with the sunlight. As you endure intermittent shadows, it feels like a strobe effect…sunglasses are a must.
Anyways, tomorrow’s high will be slightly above freezing. So, being that I don’t have an insulated pair of riding gloves, I’ll stay home. Heck, maybe I’ll figure out the next chapter in my novel…
