What book are you reading right now?
You know, during summer months, I don’t read a lot. Yet, when fall, winter and spring arrive, I relax and I read a ton. So, as the temps have cooled, I’ve cozied on the couch, and I’ve delved into a literary classic. In this post, I’ll tell you what book I’m reading.
I’m not going to claim to be a 19th century literature aficionado, yet I have read books from that century. Sherlock Holmes mysteries, Edgar Allan Poe tales and Tom Sawyer adventures are all stories I really enjoy.
And while Sherlock Holmes will always be a favorite, and I absolutely admire Doyle’s work, I’m taking a liking to another heavyweight from that era: Charles Dickens. Earlier this year, I had read a Tale of Two Cities. The novel moved me to tears.
Not only is A Tale of Two Cities excellent, but sitting down to A Christmas Carol is actually fun. I love Dickens description of the market place. Even if it’s a bit verbose, I can see the bustle, and I can feel the buzz, of that holiday crowd.
So, being that 19th century novels ground me, and I couldn’t tell you exactly why, I’ve decided to read Oliver Twist. I’m only a fifth of the way through, yet, so far, it’s not a bad read.
Have an Excellent Day!
