What’s the first impression you want to give people?
I work in retail. So, most of the new faces I meet, and I come across plenty, would be our store’s customers. As you can imagine, being that I represent the store, I want to exude positivity, and I want to leave an amiable impression. So, in answer to today’s prompt, in this post, when thinking about meeting our clientele, I’ll tell you what characteristics I want to project.
First off, I need to be professional. I think that demonstrates that I work for a respectable business, and it speaks well for my coworkers. Plus, being professional insures that I won’t offend a shopper.
Secondly, I want to be seen as friendly. I think many shoppers visit stores where they feel comfortable. Treating someone rudely, and alienating that person, might sway said individual to find other retailers. And more importantly, my biggest reason for being friendly, besides attracting customers, I simply like to meet people.
Thirdly, and this is as important as the first two attributes, I want to be seen as helpful. When attracting new customers to a business, the first step is bringing them through the door. Yet, at Walmart, since we have a wide array of merchandise, making sure that customer leaves with everything they need
…well, that’s a home run.
Man, I’m certainly old, I feel like I’m writing a computer based training lesson. In fact, while proofreading this entry, I realize I may have inadvertently paraphrased one. Anyways, even if I may sound a little too gung-ho, that’s really how I feel…
