From the day I was born, I’ve had a certain man who has always been there. Today, when the chips are down, this man, age seventy plus, is still willing to lend a hand. This man is my dad.

I’m stubborn, and, many times, I want to do things my way. I was probably the most difficult child to raise…ever. Plus, I’m an odd man, being that I don’t hunt, and I rarely fish.

Yet, despite that fact, my father had remained steadfast, and, when I’m conflicted, he has explained life’s finer points. Many times, I don’t want to hear what he has to say. Yet, despite all that, the way I live, the way I act, the way I look at life…well, my dad had a huge roll in that.

For his age, my dad’s active. He’s also fit. His hair is thinning, and it’s almost completely grey now. He’s as stubborn as I am, but he’s also a hard working individual.

Yes, even at fifty, and even if I may have committed past errors, when I try to tackle something, I hope I don’t let my dad down.
