It was fifty years ago, yet although the actual incident occurred in 1972, the ensuing Watergate hearings were the talk during my birth. Of course, for years, I couldn’t understand why Richard Nixon was vilified by the adults around me. It was also so current, and it seemed a taboo political discussion, that it was never explained in school. Yet, of course, like anything, I did find out, and the man’s ridicule certainly made sense.

Today, Watergate, although historic, being that it forced a president’s resignation, is more of a side note. The Vietnam War, in these modern times, is certainly more prominent. Yet, the scandal will live in many historian’s minds.
