How have your political views changed over time?
Without getting into politics, I’ll write about politics. This piece, considering I really don’t feel like defending my stances, will be a broad overview.
I’ll start with this.
Politics is totally about what people want. Many times, if people really desire a certain outcome, they’ll latch on to the strongest supporting argument…even if there are obvious holes in it.
Those who are content, well, they will stave off change. On the flip side, the malcontent, they’ll drive for a better course of action. And, as this world evolves, I’ve found myself on both sides of the fence…even if I know my arguments were weak.
I guess, more to the point, I know James Madison believed the voters needed oversight. His reasoning? Their desires were not conducive to the long term…in short, he thought the masses needed a fatherly presence. That’s actually been proven false, although people certainly vote with their hearts. And yes, sometimes our hearts can take us down dangerous paths.
So, how have my political viewpoints changed? Now, I realize, while I must fight for myself, I should consider others around me. And I should listen to debates with impartiality. It’s tough to do, but it’s imperative that we fight for all of us.
Have an Excellent Day!
