Write about a few of your favorite family traditions.

Hmmm…it’s a been a while since my family has been together, and some traditions, well, as we age, and as children become adults, some of those yearly activities subside. There is one annual happening that I’ll always remember. Along with that, and for good measure, I’ll throw in a few more Karas family endeavors.

First off, there’s a few things my family always did, ones taking place in years past, however, for whatever reason, we simply don’t do them anymore. For instance, during the Fourth of July, we’d get together at my parent’s permanent campsite, and we’d watch the campground’s fireworks show.

Come to think of it, there were plenty of other campsite gatherings. Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Memorial Day…well, if the weather was warm enough, we’d hang out and sit around the campfire.

Yet, my favorite get togethers, and we had done this for several years, happened when we traveled into Wisconsin’s Northwoods. There, amid frigid temperatures, and packed in a couple of tiny cabins, my family would celebrate Christmas.

The land we celebrated on was known as Camp Luther, and there were tons of wintertime activities to enjoy. The grandparents, the parents, the uncle, and especially the children enjoyed that frosty haven.

Now, years later, I look back at those moments, with the aid of wall hung photos, and, man…damn, I miss those days.

Anyways, that’s a family tradition I wish we had still kept.

Have an Excellent Day!!
