Write about your first computer.
It’s very hard to believe, but when my life began, you couldn’t find a digital device in my house. Now, in this modern day, it seems impossible to live without electronic gadgets. That intriguing fact leaves me wondering, “When did it all change?” And now, without any more delay, and since I’ve lain this post’s groundwork, I’ll recall my first computer.
Before I get started, I’ll take you back to a simpler time. I was a young boy, and there was a party at my grandparents’ house. On that particular day, I believe their tavern, which was connected to the log cabin like house, was buzzing with people, and I remember the buzz in both my grandparents’ domicile and their bar: ‘A computer beat the world chess champion’.
Suddenly, computers weren’t reserved for science fiction; people were beginning to believe, and rightfully so, that there might be practical uses for this technology.
In the years following, when I lived in Forestville, Wisconsin, my sisters and I received a family gift: a Texas Instruments computer. It was quite a novel machine. It was half Atari gaming system and half Apple IIe personal computer.
To this day, I remember the games we would play. These weren’t the popular arcade games, but they were fun nonetheless. One in particular, which was very close to Super Nintendo’s Super Techmo Bowl, was a game simply titled ‘Football’.
When I was younger, I’d assign names to the digital players, use my boom box’s tape player and record myself in a mock broadcast of my digital football contest…I know, that’s weird.
Anyways, I don’t know where that outdated system is now, but I remember it fondly. It was my parents way of preparing their children for this evolving world…I think it was a great decision!
Have an Excellent Day!!
