You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?

If I received excellent news, a bit of info that could change my life, I know the first thing I’d do…but, you know what, because I want to write a few hundred words, I’m going to keep you in suspense, and I won’t tell you about my immediate reaction right this instant. So, as you can tell, this post will contain my long, drawn out answer.

First off, and this should be discussed, what would constitute fantastic news? Would it be an engagement ? Might I become a dad? Would someone tell me I can finish my working days as a writer? Those would all be life changing moments…and they’d render a jubilant celebration…

But…

Before the party started, and after I learned of an epic accomplishment, that fantastic news would build up like a stew pot’s steam…and I’d have to let it out. I think you know what I’m saying, I’d just have to let my good humor known.

So, after a joyous scream towards the heavens, I’d pick up my phone, and I’d call my mom…I know, that’s kind of sad, but I think she’d be really proud…and I’d be proud to make her proud.

After that, she’d tell my dad, and I’d call my sisters. Then, I’d pace around and wonder what the hell was coming next…well, I’d probably do that. I pace when planning, and, with any news, planning would need to happen.

Then, after all that, I’d settle the heck down, I’d allow a satisfied smile and I’d sit down and relax.
