Share one of the best gifts you’ve ever received.

Okay, being that this subject falls in line with other topics, and because I had already written about them, I’m going to switch it up a bit. My favorite gift, well, as you might imagine, yes, I’ve already written about it. So in this post, I’ll write about another favorite of mine, and yeah, this runs parallel to other important childhood items.

So…

As I look back, and as I remember the many gifts I had received as a child, one particular Christmas present surges towards my brain’s fore lobe. The memory is quite hazy, but I’ll recap it the best I can.

First off, I don’t remember who I received this game from, nor am I sure if I had actually received it during Christmas. I just remember loving that game.

I can hear you say, “Alright, get on with it! What was your gosh darn gift?”

To that, I’ll answer, when I think about an excellent Christmas present, that I loved my NHL table top hockey game. It was about two feet long, and plastic men, who appeared to be dressed in NHL team uniforms, slid along a pressboard surface. Of course, that pressboard was painted white, and it resembled a hockey rink…to a tee.

The players were controlled by rods which, even if they bent over time, were set on either end of this rink…I could even control the goalie! If you’re wondering, a short metal shell kept the puck on the playing surface. The outer casing, which was painted NHL orange, was adorned with every team’s logo.

There was a booklet that came along with this unique contraption, and you could order stickers and game pieces to resemble other NHL teams. I believe the teams I had were the Flyers and Islanders.

All that said, I was the only boy in the family. So, mostly, save for the occasional visitor, I would play the game by myself…even if it was designed for two players. Yet, even by myself, the game kept me occupied.

Have an Excellent Day!!
