Do you believe in fate/destiny?

It’s a common question, yet, for many, and that’s myself included, there’s not a concrete answer. This question, this ancient quandary, this age old riddle of…okay, enough with the melodramatic intro. Today, in this very brief post, I’ll reflect on a personal contemplation: ‘Do I Believe in Fate?’

First off, when dealing with fate, and when dealing with who we will become, I believe a lot has to do with genetics. Let’s face it, some people are just better at certain tasks than others. And rarely, very rarely, will a person fail, or excel, at everything laid before them. So, yes, when projecting who you’re destined to become, genetics and heredity come into play. With that explained, I’ll tell you that, yes, I guess I believe in fate that way.

I also believe in God, and I believe the man has a plan, and, sometimes, when embroiled in the mire, it’s difficult to see that plan. So, in my younger days, when I doubted fate and God, I simply believed my life had no direction, and I believed it was senseless to analyze shortcomings and bad mistakes.

Now, as I understand more about life, and now that I understand why things had to happen, I’m wondering if it’s all fate, and if everything was destined to occur. It seems, as I look back , many mishaps led to a better end result.

But really, because I want to work for things, and I want the satisfaction that accompanies accomplishment, I want things to be left to chance. In short, if I am to believe that our path was laid before birth, and we can’t make our own luck, what the hell’s the sense of living?

So, to sum this up promptly, I believe in fate…to a point!

Have an Excellent!!
