Are you superstitious?

I remember my youth, and I remember being a bit puzzled. You see, after listening to my pastor, an interesting dilemma was posed. So, in this post, I’ll reveal the mind of young me.

Does God exist? In my youth, as I grew into adolescence, and as I learned scientific reasoning, I was skeptical. And then, in Catechism, my pastor preached about black magic, and he explained that it broke the first commandment.

The first commandment simply states that you shouldn’t believe in false gods. With that explanation, and it always left me scratching my head, it was explained that he was a jealous god. So, wasn’t he breaking his own rules, and wasn’t he doing that by laying down rule number one.

Yes, one of his Ten Commandments, I believe it’s the tenth, simply states: ‘Thou Shall Not Covet’. Young me reasoned that jealousy was a sin, and young me didn’t see how God could get away with being a bad parent, and everyone was just fine with that. I mean, c’mon.

Yet, for whatever reason, maybe because I see God’s underlying purpose, at least I see his purpose for giving these commandments, I am not superstitious, yet I do believe in the man upstairs.

So, long story short, I’m not superstitious.

Have an Excellent Day!!
