What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

If I’m facing tumultuous circumstances, and if the stress is gnawing at my psyche, and if I simply need an outlet, I have a few ways to alleviate those negative torrents. In this brief post, I’ll list a few stress subtractors, ones that maintain my sanity.

First, I like to exercise. That endorphin rush lasts for hours, and it halts those feared downward spirals. It’s also encouraging to see the physical results.

Secondly, losing myself while reading washes reality away, if only for a few hours, and I can gain a new perspective through someone else’s eyes. It’s also more stimulating than absorbing television.

Yet, even as I denounce television, I’ll admit that, lately, I’ve been watching an unusual amount of soccer. when focusing on something else, I can certainly dissipate those negative vibes.

Also, if the walls in my tiny house feel like prison bars, then I’d like to get out and about, and then I’d like to experience a positive vibe. Most of the time, positive people produce more positive people.

Lastly, I just like to experience sunshine…it does wonders.

I have to say, as I write this, which may, or may not, be another of my coping mechanisms, I’m taking in two more stress reducers…walking and the aforementioned sunshine. Yet, work time is approaching. So…
