Who was your most influential teacher? Why?

If I had to pick a favorite school subject, my choice would be a no brainer: history, I love learning of the past. For me, many history lessons rival any Marvel Studios production. Yes, when it comes to entertainment value, I enjoy a good history lecture. And as I think of that, I’ll explain who my most influential instructor was, being that he taught American history.

My history teacher, Mr. Fahey, lectured on America’s true past. Before then, well, I almost pictured my American forefathers as deities. Of course, when you peel off that shiny gloss, yeah, when you shatter that shiny facade our nation’s elite promotes, you discover, although our forefathers were significant men…they were very human.

Yet, because we needed a strong foundation, our national leaders portrayed them as infallible. In my sophomore history class, thanks to Mr. Fahey, I realized who they really were…intelligent, ambitious and principled men, who, like anyone else, were subject to misdeeds.

I think realizing that any man is flawed, including George Washington, rendered my critical thinking mind, although, many times, I have fallen for scams. But, it has taught me to be mindful.

Have an Excellent Day!
