Sometimes I get knocked off my pace
And I restrain from acts of haste
My life shouldn’t be a waste
Yet simple comforts I’d love to taste
The balance of work and leisure
Takes measure to be sure
I need all of me to be useful
Competent, purposeful and truthful
Seeing that, I must firmly realize
My dreams aren’t far in the skies
If I’m a careful, persistent chooser
My goals rest in the near future
