Guess what, another entertaining MLS match day is approaching. In fact, as I envision an action packed weekend, every single game takes place tomorrow. So, yes, because Saturday is rapidly approaching, I’m perusing that day’s slated matches, and I’m eagerly raising my brows. Let me tell you why.
First, starting at 12:45, delving deep in the heart of Texas, the LA Galaxy will take on a feisty Austin bunch.
Austin FC may have started out horribly, yet, from the games I’ve seen, the group possesses a ton of energy. Literally, I had a blast watching their victories over Dallas and San Jose.
The LA Galaxy, on the other hand…lately they’ve been dominating their opponents. Yet, hmmm….that might not be the case in Austin. This should be a fun game.
The only thing that might spoil this game, as I look towards the forecast, would be high winds, although the temps will be in the mid eighties.
A bit later, at six thirty, a whole slough of matches are taking place. Yet, the one I have my eye on, a seriously interesting match, will be Real Salt Lake versus Philadelphia.
The Union haven’t been beaten this season, and Real Salt Lake is three points from the Western Conference’s top spot. Besides their rankings, I like watching Philadelphia’s offensive ball movement, and I think Salt Lake’s Chicho Arango will make the game entertaining.
As these two upper echelon teams take the field, the City of Brotherly Love should be hospitable. It’ll be an overcast night, and the temps will be around fifty.
Later, at seven thirty, Minnesota United will take on Sporting Kansas City. When I study this game, I realize both teams are relishing decent performances. Kansas City, in a goal fest, tied their instate rival, and MNUFC rolled over Charlotte last week.
This week, with a bit of momentum, in the Twin Cities, the two teams will try to earn three points. The sides are rivals, and I see this being a heated battle.
Despite the incendiary embers on the pitch, the weather will be perfect for soccer…a fifty degree night in Minnesota.
After that game is through, hold on, your soccer night isn’t through yet. Only two weeks ago, while the teams played in Portland’s Providence Park, LAFC and the Portland Timbers put on an entertaining show.
This week, after a tough bout with Columbus, the Timbers will travel to Los Angeles. The stadium should be rocking, the weather should be perfect and the players should be psyched!
Lastly, another game of note, albeit another contest slated at 6:30, and I only mention this matchup because New England is better than their awful record, the Revolution will attempt to clinch their first win over Messi, Alba, Suarez…well, okay, Inter Miami will be tough assignment for New England, but, because of that, this match up should be a fun affair.
Gillette Stadium, which will hold 64,000 avid soccer fans, will see a cool night, the forty degree weather will be perfect for soccer.
Well, those are my Saturday soccer selections. Why listen to me? Seriously, there’d be no particular reason. I’m simply a middle aged, hopelessly white, clueless American. Yet, on my days off, checking out a few soccer matches is a great way to pass the time.
Entertainment is the Goal!
