Okay, I’ll start my post off with this: My favorite team doesn’t play on the weekend….at least they don’t play this weekend. Yet, because I’m a fan of the MLS, even if I don’t see a Minnesota United game slated, there are a ton of interesting matches taking place.

For instance, one of the biggest, and I believe it’s one of the oldest, anyways, one of the greatest rivalries in the MLS is happening Sunday. In years past, these were perennial powerhouse clubs, this year, while they’re not ranked among the highest, these teams still have a lot of potential firepower. Yes, Seattle takes on Portland. Both sides possess aging veterans, but they also have budding talent.

Literally, this is the rivalry that drew me towards the MLS. And Providence Park, the site of Sunday’s match, was the stadium that spurred me to attend a live soccer match. It should be fun. At kickoff, the weather will be a balmy eighty degrees in Portland.

Secondly, like my first chosen match, and another match I can’t wait for, I’ll select an equally great rivalry. This season’s first Dallas versus Austin FC match was fun to watch. This time, with Dallas playing hosts, both teams stand to repeat that entertaining show. The Texas weather should be perfect at game time.

Next up, I love watching the Columbus Crew. When this team is right, which they appear to be right now, they pepper the goal like no other team…well, okay, Miami did score six goals in a half last weak, yet, watch Columbus, even if Cincinnati has a great defense, I believe the Crew will find the back of the net. Before the game, the Columbus area will see rain on Saturday morning, but, by game time, the skies will be clear, and the sun will be shining.

Another game I have my on my watchlist is LAFC taking on the Vancouver Whitecaps. Oh, and even if Vancouver didn’t score one goal last week, they still came away with a draw. That can’t be said for LAFC, while the men in black did score a goal, they lost to lowly San Jose. So this is a game where both teams need to bounce back, and both teams have shown offensive firepower, albeit rather inconsistent.

While LAFC are woeful on the road, they are dominant at home. Vancouver, on the other hand, is very mediocre when out of Canada. Whatever the case, both teams should put on an entertaining match. The game is in LA, and the weather promises to be perfect.

Lastly, while I feel I should mention Salt Lake versus the LA Galaxy, the no brainer pick would be Inter Miami versus Montreal. Last week, Miami destroyed an excellent New York Red Bull squad. This week, Montreal will try to demonstrate that they’re worth the ex Barcelona footballers’s test. When Messi plays, the quality of everyone’s game is raised. It should be fun.

So, there’s a taste of what to expect. The games should be fun, sit down, maybe throw some brats on the grill, and enjoy the MLS. With more continuous action than baseball, how can you not be entertained?

Entertainment is the Goal!
