Okay, I have to write this post fast. That’s because, even if a full helping of games happened this past Saturday, a lot of MLS action will take place on Wednesday. So, I’m must finish this piece quickly. With out further ado, and with that said, let me get down to brass tacks.
I’ll start with this, on Friday, I had hyped a few games. Am I regretting my choices? Eh…er…no, I certainly had fun watching Saturday’s contests, and, in this rather short and slightly informative post, I’m going to recount a few games.
First off, Columbus versus Cincinnati didn’t turn out how I had anticipated. Cincinnati won, and Columbus only scored one goal. Even if that was the case, I’m finding, as it was evidenced in a few of last Saturday’s matches, that a ton of goals doesn’t mean superior entertainment…the goalie could be just awful.
Really, this game came down to the last minute, and the match was definitely full of action. So really, even if I had doted on Columbus, and I had stated they’d be the reason to watch the game, my choice was not a disatrous bust. The final tally went to the visiting Cincinnati side: 2-1.
Likewise, LAFC versus Vancouver was also very entertaining, albeit the final tally was horribly lopsided. Takaoaka Yahei, Vancouver’s goalie was pressed into an entertaining, and dare I say impressive, performance. Yes, while he had allowed three goals, ones in which no goalie could have made the save, the saves he did make had me at the edge of my seat.
Of course, I can’t mention LAFC’s three goals without mentioning Denis Bouanga. The man displayed superior talent, and that, alone, was well worth my time. The final score was 3-0 in favor of the LA home team.
Moving on, and like the first two mentioned matches, Dallas versus Austin didn’t turn out quite as expected. From the game time minutes I had seen, and I saw most of the second half, it lacked the energy of the first meeting, but it did come down to the final whistle. So, as you may have guessed, it still had action, and viewing this instate rivalry wasn’t a total waste. Oh, by the way, Dallas treated their fans to a 2-1 victory.
Another match I had hyped, and I always check this one on my calendar, happened on Sunday. Portland versus Seattle is one of the greatest rivalries in the MLS. Yet, both teams possess aging stars, and, sadly, the action reflected that. It was still a good match, and I enjoyed a few great goals… but, man, I miss the days of the Northwest’s dominance. Seattle disappointed Providence Park, and the Sounders won the match: 2-1.
Lastly, Miami versus Montreal was my favorite game of the week. In the first half, four goals were scored. Montreal had jumped to an early lead, and they accomplished that with ridiculous skill, but, of course, Miami had the last word, and those talented men in pink won another match.
As you can tell, I had fun on Saturday. And…Now that it’s Wednesday, tomorrow, before the matches commence, I’ll select a few matches I want to watch. Until then, enjoy your day🙂!
Entertainment is the Goal!!
