The first big MLS Wednesday happened yesterday. Because it took place, and because I take full advantage of Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass, I hyped some of the matchups. I’ll admit, I didn’t watch every game. Yet, the ones I had listed were actually fun to watch.
Let me start with the most important match. If you know me, you know I love Minnesota United. Furthermore, if you read Tuesday’s post, you’d know I was looking forward to the LA Galaxy taking on my favorite team. It turned out to be one of the better Wednesday night matches. There were lead changes, and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
After that, I watched another decent game, and the result destroyed two significant streaks. Although St Louis played well enough to win, LAFC’s goal tender thwarted every home team shot. Combine that with two impressive Denis Bouanga goals and you get this: the end of LAFC’s road winless streak and a broken St Louis home unbeaten record. The final score was 2-0 in favor of the Los Angeles club.
Columbus versus Montreal wasn’t a bad match either. The first half ended 1-1. Yet, after the halftime whistle, Columbus got their offense revving, and they defeated Montreal 3-1.
To be honest, even if I felt it would be the game of the night, Orlando versus Miami ended without a single goal…and my prediction was pure failure. Messi did not start. I wasn’t aware of that. I think I stated my case.
Lastly, DC United versus the New York Red Bulls was a fine match. Even if it was lopsided, the game had five total goals, and the Red Bulls bounced back from a tough loss in Miami. New York triumphed 4-1.
Well, those were Wednesday’s matches. As you can tell, I was fairly entertained. And although I had worked that day, the following day was pure soccer bliss. Guess what, tomorrow, the MLS is back in action. It should be fun!
