Okay, phew!…I’m recovering, and I’m not running against the wind. And when I look at this Saturday’s MLS schedule, I realize some teams might feel the same way. Many clubs, after playing three games in an eight day span, are now engaged in a full week’s rest. However, while many units received downtime, I need to point this out; the Lamar Hunt Cup is also taking place now. So, some MLS teams are still playing mid week, but not everyone is.
Anyways, here’s three of this Saturday’s upcoming matches. I’m only picking three contests because, well, I need time for other things. These exhibitions appeal to me on a personal level, and I’m absolutely dying to watch them. Yes, this time around, instead of choosing the elites, I’m choosing rather questionable matches. They may not have ‘marquee’ stamped on the clubs’ schedule, but I feel they’ll be entertaining.
First off, Minnesota United, with first time head coach Eric Ramsey, are quietly climbing the Western Conference’s standings. Yet, how will they fair at Colorado’s altitude? While not unbeatable, Colorado’s home field advantage is evident, and their record upon friendly soil also reflects that. So, being that I love Minnesota United, this match will be priority number 1.
Okay, my next selection is Orlando City taking on the Columbus Crew. Although Orlando’s record isn’t stellar, they should play host to an entertaining contest. The Columbus Crew will try to hold their ground against an underperforming squad, and Orlando will try to rise from the basement. I will enjoy this match, I’m urging you to tune in and watch along with me.
The last match I’ll mention, and I know my choice will throw many people off, anyways, I’m saying that Portland versus Kansas City will be my late night choice. While both teams have struggled this year, they possess talent, and they also seem fairly well coached. Furthermore, Providence Park, Portland’s first rate soccer venue, provides a fantastic atmosphere, and it will resonate throughout the broadcast.
Okay, I’m set for Saturday, and I hope I’ve persuaded a few people to watch my chosen matches. If you don’t believe I’ve made decent choices, leave me a comment. Give me input. More than anything, I’d like to create a forum for MLS fans. Authorized talk shows are great, but fans being fans is really what I’m after. Plus, the intelligent fan might pick up on things the broadcasters simply won’t say.
