Well, midweek MLS games were played this Wednesday, and there was plenty of soccer action. I didn’t write about any of the matches, because, frankly, time was limited. Yet, since I have a couple hours before work, I’ll look ahead to tomorrow’s contests. There should be quality entertainment set on that blissful day.
First off, before I write about MLS league play, I’d like to mention a few other games. Before America’s games, Saturday’s biggest match will be played in London’s Wembley Stadium. Borussia-Dortmund will take on Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final. That ginormous event will take place at 2:00 CDT. I’ll try to catch it live.
Also, similar to the European Championship, The CONCACAF Champions League will also hold their final. That game features the MLS champions Columbus Crew versus Liga MX’s Pachuca. It takes place at 8:15 on FS1. I think Columbus is one of the funnest teams to watch, so it should be quality entertainment.
Okay, back to the MLS. Although Miami is taking on St Louis on the East Cost, making that game an early match, I’m selecting another 6:30 soccer showdown. When I write about Orlando, I sound like a broken record…and I talk about their record. Yes, the team is good, even if the standings say otherwise. Also, the team Orlando is facing, the New York Red Bulls, is one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference. This should be quality entertainment.
Next up, I always root for Minnesota United. At 7:30 CDT they’ll take on SKC. The loons, who will be hosting the boys from Missouri, already have one win against Sporting. So, after a brutal loss in LA, Minnesota will look to conquer the flailing Kansas City side. If you look at it from Kansas City’s perspective, they’ll be trying to right a sinking ship. Again, last week, after tying Portland, SKC let another point slip from their grasp. I really don’t know how this one will turn out.
Lastly, LAFC is very impressive on their home pitch. So, even if Dallas has struggled mightily this season, the Los Angeles team should make the game fun to watch. Plus, since LAFC’s boys are climbing the Western Conference standings, many other teams will take interest.
Okay, these are the matches I’ll be watching on Saturday. Yes, Saturday, starting early in the afternoon, will be a day full of soccer action. If you have some downtime, checkout any one of these promising events.
Entertainment is the Goal!
