My Saturday night had one brilliant highlight; I enjoyed a very entertaining MLS match. And while my team of choice lacked its full complement of regulars, those who replaced them did very well. I’ll briefly tell you my thoughts.
Minnesota United is fun to watch. Is it the talent? Is it the coaching? Is it the culture? Is it the venue…is it the fan base? I believe it’s all of those things. Last night proved that fact, and it also proved that there’s a solid future for the team as well. Granted, Dallas FC is a struggling outfit, and they have yet to hit their stride this season, but Minnesota played well against the full strength Texas side.
No, the Loons did not win, yet they played a very entertaining match, and they earned a valuable point with a tie. I admit, Minnesota’s goal came via an inexcusable Dallas blunder, but the Twin Cities group appeared cohesive, and they created many scoring opportunities. So, 1-1 was the final, and, I believe, given the circumstances, that’s one hell of a performance.
