Today, the weather is rather warm, not blistering hot, but the sun is shining, and a dip, preferably in Lake Michigan, would be Welcome. This afternoon, I actually had the perfect opportunity to swim in that body of water. However, I stayed home, washed my car and enjoyed my air conditioned home.
The opportunity came via an invitation to a family reunion. It’s taking place at Sunset Park. This city haven, featuring lush green fields of regularly mowed grass, has a small, sandy beach.
Okay, let me be clear, I had alluded that Sunset Park was on the Lake Michigan shoreline, actually it rests at the edge of a canal, and I believe it sits next to a body of water called Sturgeon Bay…at least that’s what it says on the DNR website. Anyways, the Sturgeon Bay is connected to the Green Bay, which, if you survey Lake Michigan’s map imagery, and if you were to compare it to a squash, looks like the leafy portion of said vegetable.
Anyways, in the town named the same as its bay, by the way, there are absolutely no sturgeon in the Sturgeon Bay, as I was saying, I was supposed to go to a family reunion. Yet, I need to relax a bit, and I need to unwind. So, even if that large body of water beckons, I’m staying where the AC keeps me comfy.
A little more on Sunset Park: After the Canal’s construction, Shipbuilding companies set up shop along that rather small stretch of water. To date, I believe only one remains, and the edge of that Shipyard abuts the multi-purpose city park. Anyways, here I sit, watching swelled clouds encroach on blue skies. An afternoon storm wouldn’t be horrible, and it’d make me feel more comfortable about my choice.
Have an Excellent Day!
