Okay, today is Labor Day, and I’m performing manual labor. It makes sense…right? I mean, after all, it is a day of labor.

What?!

I misunderstood the reason for this holiday? I’m supposed to be relaxing? Tell that to the retail gods. Yes, in retail, and during holidays, an employee’s attendance is practically mandatory….and that’s been the cold hard facts for my last twenty working years.

On this particular Labor Day, work isn’t really that difficult. In fact, it’s slow, steady and easy…as long as I don’t step on the sales floor. Yep, the East Side Walmart is packed. In fact, the crowd might rival the Minnesota State Fair…Okay, maybe it’s not that chaotic, but, right now, I prefer the back room.
