You know what I hate about many diet plans? First off, they’re diet plans. Secondly, they’re not catered to my needs. What I mean is this; that person, I’m talking about the nutritionist that planned this diet, well, they don’t even know who I am.
My advice, if you are longing to be a bit healthier, is to do your own research. Don’t get me wrong, confiding in a dietary health specialist would help. Yet, dude, research foods you like, you know, ones people say are healthy for you, and find out if they’re actually healthy…and find out why they are.
Years ago, when I was a teen, researching food took time. Now, you can ask Siri, Alexa or Google, “what vitamins and minerals are in an avocado?” Chances are, that AI device will even tell you what fats and acids are in your chosen food. And, if your choice is questionable, most times, AI will tell you the downside of eating that particular morsel.
Next, after you learn what’s in an avocado, research those vitamins and minerals. It only takes a simple question; “Hey Siri, what does vitamin A help with?”
That’s actually how I plan my grocery shopping. Granted, I usually opt for the same fresh items, but, if I make a change, I check AI to understand the benefits of a certain food. Really…that’s my…. “Diet Plan.”
Also, when checking items, and notice I really didn’t mention anything about caloric intake, check other benefits…other than nutritional health. Brain function and mental health actually are affected by your diet. Yeah, certain foods, like lobster and salmon, will actually help you think better.
Okay, I know, those aren’t the cheapest options. So…research! Find what foods you can afford, and, sometimes, grocery retailers might offer a deal. Seafood items are really affordable when they near their expiration date. When the “Eat by date” gets close, you can actually buy a salmon filet for three and a half dollars.
You may argue, “But I have to eat it that day!” I’ll argue back, “‘Salmon filets often come prepared with seasonings, and, if you put your oven on four hundred degrees, it’ll take about fifteen minutes to bake.” Seriously, I’ve sat in McDonald’s drive-through lanes that long. Plus, you eat every day, and, unless you have a stew prepared, you can enjoy your freshly baked salmon that day.
Next up, in tomorrow’s little rant, I’ll explore my dietary health a little further. Yes, I’ll talk about carbohydrates, and I’ll explain why I eat them every day. I actually hate when plans tell you to stay away from carbs. Bread is essential.
In closing, I’ll say this, any diet takes discipline, but if you choose meals and foods you love, it’s easier to go on that path.
Me? What’s my health like? I’m five foot-eight and I weigh 155 pounds. My resting heart rate is in the low forties. That’s not solely from diet, I do a lot of cardio also. In a few blog entries, I’ll write all about my habits…from making my bed to watching soccer, and I’ll write about why they helped Me!
I put the word “me” in bold letters for a good reason. In life, we have to find our own path, and we have to find what works for us. That’s the trick, and, really, when we follow our hearts, it’s quite easy.
Have an Excellent Day!
