You know, as I age, pop culture events hold less importance. Take today for instance: I had to Google a very big sporting event, and I had to check if it took place. That popular happening, a sports holiday of sorts, was the Daytona 500.

From my past, I remember that the Daytona 500 takes place a week after the Super Bowl. I also know it’s the most prestigious NASCAR race of the season. Yet, today, until I began my shift, I hadn’t even thought about the race. To be honest, I really don’t care, but, for the fun of it, I checked it out, and I realized it was delayed because of rain.

I never really understood, and, yes, I have thought about it, anyways, I don’t know why the Daytona 500 is such a big race. I have been to Daytona Beach, and I have seen the gigantic motor speedway. I also marvel that, during the race’s early years, drivers actually drove on the beach. Yet, it’s the very first race…not the finale. So, in the grand scheme of things, it’s really just another race.

Anyways, NASCAR fans, I hope the racing season is exciting, but I also hope every driver remains injury free.

Have an Excellent night!!
