Lately, it’s become a fun filled event. I think anybody, no matter their social and economic status, would actually enjoy it. That happy happening, and off day escape, is cruising Green Bay thrift shops.

Years ago, when I complained that I couldn’t afford things, people would suggest Goodwill. I used to scoff, “That’s where poor people go!” I was an idiot. Thrift shopping, now that I’ve discovered a buying strategy, is an excellent way to spend some time.

Before I get too far, I should make this known; I work at Walmart, and I shop there practically every day. It makes sense; I have a discount card, I have online shopping perks and I know where everything is in our store. But, sometimes, I want to go somewhere else, and one never knows what they’ll find at a thrift store.

It’s such a random grouping of goods, and the merchandise is constantly changing, so you really can’t plan to buy a needed item, and you certainly can’t go in thinking you’ll a find a certain pair of shoes, a certain set of dishes or a certain piece of furniture. Yeah, if you do that, you might be setting yourself up for failure and frustration. But, heck, if you really need it, that’s where Walmart and online shops fit in.

If you just fancy something fun, or maybe out of the ordinary, thrift stores are an excellent spot. Granted, many times, most times, what’s at Goodwill are unwanted goods. Yet, we’re all different, and we all have individual needs. So, because we have unique agendas, what we find at a thrift shop, to one particular person, might be a diamond in the rough.

I know, ‘Diamond in the Rough’ is a cliche line. Yet, truly, truly, truly…yeah, a thrift store trip could be the highlight of your week. That’s why I go.

So, if you’re strapped for cash, but you want to do something fun, and you just want to buy something…anything, find a local thrift store, and see if you can find something to brighten your home, wardrobe, tool collection…heck, you name it, with repurpose stores and thrift shops, sooner or later, you’ll most likely find it.

Have an Excellent Day!
