Years ago, and I mean over a century ago, Green Bay, Wisconsin was not one city. Yes, if you were on the east side of the Fox River, you’d be in Green Bay. Yet, If you were on the west bank, you were in Fort Howard.
However, realizing that this great city need not be divided, in 1895, Green Bay took large steps towards its destiny. The biggest was uniting the city…oh, coincidentally, that same year, near today’s East High School, the first recorded organized football game took place.
Now, on an urban loop,

which includes great city scapes,

A couple of bridges, ones that bear Hall of Fame Packers’ names,

and passes through a few different districts,

you’ll find a walk that traverses both of those old municipalities…passing through vital arteries of this old Midwestern town.
The city has titled it the La Baye Loop.

La Baye was the French’s 17th century label for this area of Wisconsin…no, you will not find structures that old, at least not in Green Bay.
This spot features shops.

And the shops range in variety.

Along with that, you’ll find trendy eateries

along with vintage dining spots.

Also, bars,

some with gritty back lot appeal,

or fun tiki bar vibes,

or even a couple of good breweries,

await the enthusiastic party goer.
Of course, if that doesn’t help your pursuit of Midwestern city moods…

Try this Fox River waterscape, known as the City Deck.

Much more awaits the pedestrian on this city stroll…

Like old rail stations turned eateries,

and testaments to the label ‘Title Town’

There’s also nearby memorials.

I think you get it. Yes, this mile of big small city entertainment…oooh!!!

Live shows!
Anyways, this area, this mile long loop, may be what any Packer fan may be looking for. Of course, if anybody knows anything about Green Bay, Wisconsin, they know about the Packers. Yet, in this rather old city, there’s tons of harmless fun to be had!

Safe Travels!
