The Wooden Nickel

I don’t know about you, but I think a rustic place, or at least one that bears that rustic vibe, is a perfect spot to drink a hearty brew. I mention this, as it may seem unnecessary, because, tucked neatly amongst city buildings, historic structures along Appleton’s College Avenue, you’ll find the Wooden Nickel Sports Bar and Grill, which delivers that shack in the woods atmosphere amid a fairly decent sized city.

Here, check this photo out.

See what I mean by rustic? Heck, if it weren’t for this many taps and televisions, this could be a hunting cabin.

What? You know a guy with that much beer in his cabin? I’m willing to bet his deer tags are never put to good use. Anyways, check out these cool advertising lights.

And if you’re wondering, which I’m sure you are, the Wooden Nickel serves food. I know this, and it took little research, because the grill and fryer are practically in your face.

And the carnivore in you can devour sandwiches, including burgers, chicken baskets, elk patties, fish and perch baskets. Of course apps and sides are also available, and these booths would make a great site for downing said eats.

While driving down College Avenue, thinking wholly about the Trout Museum of Art, this little place caught my eye. Rustic, hickish, throwback, whatever you want to call it, I’m sure, if we share similar tastes, you’ll love the Wooden Nickel Sports Bar and Grill.

Safe Travels!
