What jobs have you had?
In my life, as I near the half century point, I’ve worked many different jobs. Some of those employers I loved. Others…well, not so much.
I learned, through many orchard fights, while picking cherries, that cherry juice is sticky as heck.
Then, after that, cajoled by my parents, I found work at a grocery store. While working at that IGA, I learned, through first hand incidents, that cleaning the meat room was a tough and disgusting chore.
When searching for an easy paycheck, a shoe store seemed a decent fit, until my boss expected me to work homecoming night. I guess leaving in the middle of a shift, and walking out on the job, left me looking like a heel.
When I graduated high school, the Air Force beckoned, and I worked on F-16’s for a few years. Even if I’m not mechanically inclined, I learned much. I guess it paid to ‘aim high.’ Wait, do they still use that cheesy slogan?
After the Air Force, I discovered, while I’m fairly strong for my size, being a mover probably wouldn’t be a long term career choice.
Roofing was after that. You should only choose such a profession, which involves balancing on steep slopes, if your knees are at their peak.
I returned to working on Aircraft for a bit. However, being in a major city with no friends, or family, wasn’t for me.
Then, and it has been twenty years, I wound up at Walmart. Yes, I probably could do other jobs, but for now, it’s a steady paycheck and I can subsist.
So yeah, there’s a list of jobs. While writing this post, I’ve omitted a few summer jobs, such as cleaning condos and delivering pizzas. Yet, and it’s always been the case, since I moved out of my parents place, I’ve always found something to pay the bills. It might not be pretty, but it contributes to the economy…in a positive manner. I think that’s something to be proud of!!
Have an excellent day!!
