What does your ideal home look like?

They are necessities.  And, whether you live in a lavish palace, or if you reside in a  slummy hovel, any home provides shelter.  Of course, many of us, myself included, dream of owning the perfect home.  But…What would that perfect residence be?  Today, in this brief post, I’ll explain my vision of the ideal house.

First off, my place would need solar panels.  Yeah, call me a yuppie, but cleaner, more efficient energy…I believe that if mankind pushes forward, and we were to thrive on earth, we’ll need those resources.

As for the facade of my ideal home, man, I’m not sure what my house would look like.  Brick, stone and logs are all acceptable materials.  Furthermore, I’d love some large windows, ones that overlooked a small  body of water, like a river or canal.

Inside my house, my kitchen, with a small, attached dining space, would be full of high tech gadgets.  Yet, as a contradiction, my decor, well, that would harken back to Victorian times.  And I’m not talking about luxuriant art deco, no, more like bare bones rustic.

I’d have a sitting room, where guests could drop by.  Inside this room, you’d find the house’s largest picture windows.  Of course, being that I’d want a fun space for conversation, there’d be no television in that spot.  Instead, art, collectibles and other conversation pieces would adorn the walls.

I’d also have a TV room, one where guests could watch the big game.  Sports memorabilia would be all around.

I’d have several bathrooms.  I urinate frequently…’nuff said.

I’d probably have a small arcade.  The room wouldn’t be too extravagant.  Childhood favorites like Pac-Man, Space invaders and Asteroid would be in this room….ooh, and a pool table.

Most of my life, I had dreamed of a bar.  But now, as I’m nearing fifty, I think I’d lean towards an outdoor/indoor party spot.  This patio would be rustic.  Yet, with a portion under a roof, with retracting, glass overhead doors, it’d have high tech features…like a big screen TV.  It’d be great for backyard cookouts.

I won’t go overboard in my bedroom, but, hopefully, on my ceiling, a large skylight would allow visions of starry nights.

My garage would be two stall, and, although I don’t venture many DIY projects, I’d still have a workshop.

Lastly, my yard, jazzed up with landscaping projects, would be large, and right next to it, I’d have a lush green forest to mountain bike in. Yet, I’d still like to be near a sizeable city, one where I could hang out, take in entertainment and shop at brick and mortar stores.

Okay, there, I’ve done my dreaming for the day, I’d be interested in other bloggers’visions. So, once again, on lunch, I’ll check out other dream homes.

Have an Excellent day!

  2. My husband and I went through this as a class exercise a few times. We’re closing in on 50 years together. Needless to say, we’ve now owned three different dream houses!
We never could get the beach in the front and the mountains in the back, with year around mild weather! Lol
We’re in a very nice community now and enjoy the benefits of a neighborhood watch. Monthly we get presentations by both our local PD and FD. Geared towards us older folks. Of interest are the talks concerning EV fires (VERY hard to put out and our FD does NOT readily have what they need to put one out) and then issues with solar panels. So no long term planning for either. Solar panels on roofs are a fireman’s worst nightmare. Like an electrical fire, they power off the source. Solar panels can’t be “shut off ) so they keep burning….So all that to say, keep dreaming! You’re on the right track!
